Pre-Doctoral Award: Colin Smith
Colin Smith is a PhD Candidate in mechanical engineering in the Neuromuscular Biomechanics Lab at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His research focuses on the development of novel musculoskeletal simulation techniques to study knee mechanics during functional movement with applications in anterior cruciate ligament injury, total knee arthroplasty (TKA) and pediatric orthopedics. He was a 2016 NCSRR OpenSim Visiting Scholar at Stanford University and a 2015 Whitaker International Scholar at KU Leuven, Belgium. After finishing his PhD, Colin will join the Laboratory for Movement Biomechanics at ETH Zurich as a postdoctoral fellow to investigate knee function following TKA using fluoroscopy and instrumented implants.
